We’d like to extend a very warm Magus welcome to Doug Pritchard, who joins us as a Chartered Financial Planner.
Joining Magus to focus on what he believes is vitally important to quality financial advice; the relationship between client and adviser.
Doug still advises clients he first met in 1999. Doug is just as busy outside of work. A fair weather golfer with a love of scuba diving, married with a son, two cats, a house to renovate and a new dog on the way!

We are delighted that Elizabeth Hollamby joins our expanding team as Trainee Financial Planner. Lizzy is part of the Magus Chartered Financial Planner Academy – our dedicated support, training and continued development programme. With a keen interest in personal finance and a background in building and maintaining client relationships, this makes her perfect match for Magus.
Outside of work Lizzy enjoys spending time with her horse Ziggy and she loves nothing more than a sunny holiday.
One in three of us will face cancer, and the money raised will help make sure no one has to face it alone.
On Thursday and Friday the Magus team took part in the world's biggest coffee morning in support of the MacMillan fundraising event for people facing cancer. Our employees baked their socks off as you can from our fantastic spread. We had everything from Andy's 'blow the diet' Blondies, Karin's transformation of the humble sausage roll with apricots, Angie's infamous cheese scones, Ian's 'it's one of your 5 a day' carrot cake and a special mention to Harry's grandchildren who had fun making the most magical fairy cakes.
And someone who deserves a special mention is Debbie who, without all her help and support, this event would not have been possible.
Once again a big thank you to each and every one of you who took part - for your time, your generosity and your outstanding cake/scone/sausage roll eating skills.

Joining us from Elevate, with nearly 3 years spent in the adviser communications team and a year in the internal communications team, Emma joins the Magus team as Head of Marketing and Communications. Previous to this Emma spent 8 years at ING Direct, in a variety of marketing roles, including Head of Client communications. Since joining us, we now have a marketing plan that takes us through to the end of this year and into 2018, with our clients’ needs firmly at the heart of this. Emma says she thinks she’s got a busy time ahead of her.
Having recently launched the Magus Chartered Financial Planner Training Academy, we are very pleased to have appointed Andy Gardner as our first trainee financial planner. Andy comes from a relationship management background within a large corporate environment, a skills base that he is keen to transfer into financial services. Outside work, Andy is a keen sportsman, playing rugby for Dorking, as well as being a self-confessed ‘fair weather golfer’ in the summer.
We’d very much like to welcome a new member of the Magus family, Karin Fagerholm, who joined us in early April as a Client Support Assistant. Karin previously worked for a large pensions provider and brings specific expertise of the technical aspects of pensions management. In her spare time, Karin is an up-and-coming artist and is particularly keen on Impressionism, describing herself as ‘a big fan of Van Gogh’. When not painting, Karin also enjoys playing volleyball, going to the gym and walking.
Many people will be investing in an ISA and/or their pensions before the 5 April deadline.
If you have not done so already and you have money to invest, it’s worth taking the time to talk with us about making the most of this year’s allowance before it disappears.
In the 2016/2017 tax year you can invest up to £15,240 in a Stocks & Shares ISA (this limit includes any money you may have paid into a Cash ISA).
Don’t miss out on this tax-efficient opportunity
As you may know, at the moment, any income from or capital growth in your ISA is free of personal liability to UK income tax and capital gains tax, whatever your personal tax position.
Use all of your ISA allowance this tax year – before it disappears for good
The annual allowance for pension contributions also runs in line with the tax year, therefore you may wish to consider making a contribution before 5 April.
The maximum you can contribute is the lower of your relevant UK earnings (gross) for the 2016/2017 tax year, or the current Annual Allowance of £40,000 (please note this may be subject to the Tapered Annual Allowance for higher earners).
Non-earners can receive tax relief on contributions up to £3,600.
If, like many people, you want to beat the end of the tax year rush and make the most of any investment opportunities, please contact call your Magus adviser on 0203 176 5888 to discuss what needs to be done.
REMEMBER: Last day of tax year – Wednesday 5 April
Due to increased volumes over this busy period, your ISA and pension providers’ normal service standards may be affected.
Please download this leaflet and take note of the deadlines to make your end of tax year arrangements run as smoothly as possible.
We started Magus in 1998 and since then it has developed into a flourishing professional services business. As a result, it is now firmly established in the top 10% of IFA firms in the UK.
After much research, which included speaking to our clients, we felt that our current brand name, Magus Financial Management, didn’t fully represent the Financial Planning element of the service that Magus provides to most clients.
As a result, we decided to launch two new identities that will better match the services provided. With effect from January 3rd 2017, Magus Private Wealth and Magus Business Wealth will replace our old brand.
