Ian joined Magus as Chief Executive in April 2012. He has, however, known Mike and Dante professionally since the year 2000, having worked with them on a management consultancy basis for more than 10 years prior to joining the business.
Ian’s background is predominantly business consultancy in the financial services arena. His lengthy career has included being a Director of SIFA (Solicitors for Independent Advice), providing an advisory service to lawyers on financial planning matters. He was most recently Managing Director of his own financial training and management consultancy, embedding business management systems and procedures into law, accountancy and IFA firms.
Within Magus, Ian’s responsibilities centre on the strategic development, growth and management of the business. One specific focus is the acquisition of the best financial advisory firms whose ethos is in line with the Magus vision. This dedicated CEO role enables all other Magus teams to focus fully on their clients, a key benefit of the Magus approach.
Ian’s role also encompasses the development of the growing team within the business:
“I love seeing people develop in their roles and the thriving Magus culture means our people come first”.
Beyond Magus, Ian is a keen cyclist and yachtmaster, having had to hang up his semi-professional rugby boots many years ago. He is also a hockey umpire and Chair of Surrey Hockey Umpires. Ian can also be frequently found on Wimbledon Common, with his wife and ball-mad Springer Spaniel, Scrumpy.
